BBC Studios has announced the creation of its new UK Entertainment Unit to be led by Managing Director Suzy Lamb.

The newly created production unit follows the merging of BBC Studios’ Entertainment & Music and Factual Entertainment & Events units. The new UK business “will allow for a more focused pipeline to take shows from development to production to international format sales more efficiently.”

Lamb was previously Managing Director of BBC Studios’ Entertainment & Music Unit and will oversee the creative, commercial, and operational strategy of the new unit.

UK Entertainment will sit as part of BBC Studios’ Global Entertainment business which is headed up by Matt Forde who Lamb will report into.

The teams have previously delivered coverage of The State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, Eurovision 2023, Platinum Party at the Palace, King Charles III Coronation and The Coronation Concert as well as last month’s D-Day 80 events.
It will continue to produce coverage from the world’s biggest music festival; Glastonbury, as well as leading UK titles including Strictly Come Dancing, The Weakest Link, Later with Jools Holland, The One Show, Morning Live and much loved UK brands such as Antiques Roadshow and Gardeners World.

Matt Forde, Managing Director, Global Entertainment, BBC Studios said: “The Global Entertainment market continues to evolve at pace and the new UK Entertainment unit will be the centrepiece of our Global Entertainment division, driving growth as well as building on the incredible success of its existing titles. As Managing Director of BBC Studios Entertainment & Music Productions Lamb oversees  Glastonbury, Later with Jools Holland, Comic Relief and Children in Need as well as the 2024 BAFTA winners Strictly Come Dancingand Eurovision Song Contest 2023 amongst other leading titles.

Prior to joining the business in 2018 she was Head of Entertainment at Thames where she launched Take Me Out with Paddy McGuinness as well as executive producer on All Star Family Fortunes, Let’s Get Gold and Bang on The Money.

Before joining Thames, Lamb was at the BBC where she executive produced I’d Do AnythingAny Dream Will Do and the  International Emmy award-winning series, How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? She also spent two years in Los Angeles as show runner on NBC shows  Clash Of The ChoirsPhenomenon and Grease: You’re The One That I Want.

Reporting into Lamb will be new Director of Production for UK Entertainment, Katie Brewer. Brewer was previously Director of Production for Factual Entertainment & Events working on leading titles and events such as Dragons’ Den, RHS Chelsea Flower Show, The State Funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth IIKing Charles III Coronation and The Coronation Concert.
Prior to joining BBC Studios in 2021 she was at RDF, part of Banijay, where she was Director of Production for a group of labels – RDF, RDF West, Fizz, Wonder and Little Wonder, overseeing a large production slate that included the Bafta nominated Anton Ferdinand: Football Racism and Me, Tipping Point, Dementia and Me and Eat Well For Less.
