Two further categories, peer-nominated by Editors and Assistants and decided by a jury, will see two individuals presented with the following honors. These awards are named in memory of two BFE members who passed away in 2020.
Michael Johns Award for Outstanding Assistant Editor:

Michael Johns, a long time governor of BFE was passionate about helping and promoting people in the industry. This award is open to any assistant editor in the UK.
Chris Crookall Award for Breakthrough Editor:

Chris Crookall was a younger BFE member who was enjoying an outstanding career. It recognises a junior editor who shows the qualities and attributes to go far.
BFE’s newest category is nominated by the BFE Board this year.
Outstanding Contribution Award:
Honouring an editor for their outstanding editing achievements and commitment to our craft.
The nominations for these three awards will be revealed on Friday 17th January.
The winners will be announced on the 13th February during BFE’s first LIVE ceremony at the BFI Southbank followed by celebration in The Riverfront and Balcony Bars. The ceremony will be live-streamed online at www.britishfilmeditors.co.uk
As part of the awards BFE is holding an EDITOR’S PANEL at the Picturehouse Central, hosted by Editor Eddie Hamilton, ACE BFE on the morning of 15th February. All BFE and Bafta nominated Single Drama Editors are invited.
