Frank Spotnitz’ Big Light Productions – the producer behind Leonardo and The Man in the High Castle, is to serve as a co-producer on Black Spark Film & TV’s upcoming sci-fi drama series We Come in Peace for TV4 and ZDF.
Alongside series creator and writer Lars Lundström (Real Humans), producer Piodor Gustafsson (Border, The Lamb), Big Light has been “instrumental” in the development and script supervision of the series, since boarding the series in 2023. They are joined by Newen Connect, a subsidiary of Newen Studios (TF1 group), which came on board the project at its inception over two years ago to secure early pre-financing and help shape the development of the series for international audiences. The European distributor, which brought ZDF on board as a co-producer, is handling all international sales. The series has just wrapped production in Sweden.
The Scandinavian drama series is Big Light’s first non-English language drama, with Spotnitz and Adrian Banyard serving as Executive Producers.

We Come in Peace is a grounded sci-fi series that explores the chaos unleashed when a mysterious jellyfish-like object appears in the sky over Stockholm, sparking widespread panic, fear and confusion among the population. Starring Fares Fares (Cairo Conspiracy, Westworld) and Evin Ahmad (Snabba Cash), the show delves into the turmoil and uncertainty that follows this inexplicable phenomenon.
We Come In Peace marks Frank Spotnitz’s return to science fiction after writing and executive producing on the seminal sci-fi series The X-Files, which earned him three Golden Globe Awards, a Peabody Award and an Emmy nomination.

I’ve been approached countless times to get involved with alien sci-fi dramas since The X-Files and always said no. But when I read the pilot for We Come In Peace, I had to say yes. Bringing this series to life as Big Light’s first Scandinavian and non-English language production has been incredibly rewarding. We Come in Peace is created and written by Lars Lundström and is produced by Piodor Gustafsson for Black Spark Film & TV and Big Light Productions. Frank Spotnitz and Adrian Banyard are Executive Producers. Jens Jonsson and Mani Maserrat-Agah direct. The series also counts Lundström’s Snyggfin Production, Infinite Entertainment in Sweden, Dansu in Lithuania, and Beside Productions in Belgium as co-producers and in association with TV2 Norway, MTV in Finland and C More in Denmark, with financing from Nordisk Film & TV Fond and Creative Europe.
The series is for TV4 and ZDF and is set to premiere in late 2025.
