Channel 4 has picked up Sony Pictures Television thriller, Long Bright River, starring Amanda Seyfried.
The limited series thriller debuted on Peacock on March 13 in the US and will be shown across multiple countries.,
Based on Liz Moore’s New York Times bestselling novel, Long Bright River (8 x 60) is a suspense thriller series that tells the story of Mickey (Seyfried), a police officer who patrols a Philadelphia neighborhood hard-hit by the opioid crisis. When a series of murders begins in the neighborhood, Mickey realizes that her personal history might be related to the case.
“Long Bright River is the limited series that buyers are looking for right now- – it’s got huge star power and propulsive storytelling that culminates in a satisfying conclusion,” said Mike Wald, Co-President, Distribution & Networks, Sony Pictures Television. “It has been extremely well-received since we debuted at the Los Angeles Screenings this past May and has already been sold, or is close to being sold, in nearly every territory.”
Long Bright River comes from SPT and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group. Nikki Toscano (The Offer, Hunters) and Liz Moore (Long Bright River) write and executive produce, with Toscano serving as showrunner. Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty and Amanda Lewis executive produce for Original Film and Amy Pascal executive produces for Pascal Pictures. Russell Rothberg also serves as executive producer. Hagar Ben-Asher (Bad Boy, Dead Women Walking) directs and executive produces the first episode. SPT holds the international distribution rights.
