Ron’s Gone Wrong and That Christmas producer, Locksmith Animation, has announced the launch of its first independent feature, Wed Wabbit, at the European Film Market.
Timeless Films is on board to handle worldwide sales with the film produced in association with Cantilever Media.
When a desperate act traps a teenage girl in the bonkers world of her little sister’s pop-up book, she must find her sister’s favorite toy rabbit to get home. Problem is – he’s now a 50-foot-tall, petulant dictator hellbent on keeping her there.
Gideon Defoe (The Pirates In An Adventure With Scientists) will write the film and Olly Reid (Welcome to Monster High) is on board to direct.
The producers are Julie Lockhart (Bad Fairies, That Christmas, Ron’s Gone Wrong) and Andrew Baker (Bollywoof, The Amazing Maurice) with Executive Producers JP Vine (Ron’s Gone Wrong, Shaun the Sheep), Elizabeth Reddy (The Lunar Chronicles) and Ralph Kamp (Scrooge: A Christmas Carol)
Locksmith Animation CEO Natalie Fischer said: “Wed Wabbit is an exciting milestone for Locksmith Animation as our first independent feature. After successful collaborations with major studios and streamers, we’re now tapping into the immense potential of the independent market, especially for animation. Partnering with Timeless Films allows us to showcase our storytelling and production strengths to independent distributors, and we’re eager to expand our portfolio with more independent projects as we continue to grow our global presence.”
