Marianne Speight has been appointed as VFX Managing Director for MISC Studios.
MISC, which specialises in high-end TV and feature film vfx, was set up earlier this year by Adam Luckwell and Michael Elson.
The appointment is part of MISC’s plans to “significantly boost their visual effects portfolio with high-quality episodic and full-feature work, as well as continue to build a robust and diverse leadership team.”
Before joining MISC Studios, Speight served as a Visual Effects Producer at Scanline VFX. Prior to this she was Global Head of Bidding and Development at DNEG, where she secured numerous high-profile productions. She has also previously worked with MPC as both VFX Producer and New Business VFX Producer, nurturing their VFX show teams and handling large budget VFX feature films. Speight also served as VFX producer for Peerless Camera Company.
In her new role, Speight will focus on gaining new business and developing stronger relationships with major content partners across the industry alongside the studio’s production teams.
Adam Luckwell commented, “I am delighted Marianne has joined our team. She embodies everything that is important to our core values; passionately championing mental well being, inclusivity, sustainability and community, all whilst delivering creative excellence. Marianne will be at the forefront of outlining new strategies that will maximise production and ensure a creative environment that brings out the best in our teams. Her extensive experience will be instrumental to leading the company into what is one of its most explosive periods of growth so far, we are excited to have Marianne onboard.”
Speaking about her new role, Speight said, “I’m really thrilled to join MISC because it has such a fabulous group of talented and welcoming people. It’s also implemented state of the art technology and pipeline from the getgo so the ability to produce amazing VFX is already here and I’m excited about where that will take us!”
MISC Studios is in development on a variety of projects alongside content partners including Amazon and Netflix. Their most recent work on Willow for Disney+ is set for release on 30 November 2022.
