Bandicoot Scotland has confirmed a two series recommission from ITV of The Masked Singer.
In addition to a sixth season of the show, which is now in production, the recommission also includes a seventh 8 x 90’ series of the Saturday night entertainment hit along with a new 8 x 30’ digital companion series, The After Mask.
The After Mask, produced in conjunction with Strong Watch Studios and hosted by Harriet Rose (Kiss FM, MTV, The Brits), will be available to fans of the show “craving a further fix of masked-related mayhem after the main show,” across on-demand, social and digital channels including ITVX and YouTube: The Masked Singer UK.
Filmed in studio straight after the main show, the “party atmosphere continues on The After Mask, where fans can look forward to chatting and games with the superstar panel of celebrity detectives Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and newbie Maya Jama, all the tea from host Joel Dommett and exclusive unmasking interviews with the celebrity singers. And Harriet heads backstage to reveal the secret sauce that goes into producing the nation’s most spectacularly staged show, from the choreographers to the costume designers.”
Nick Johns, Bandicoot’s Head of Digital said: “With content optimised across social and digital, The After Mask is the perfect all-platform companion show to The Masked Singer, featuring fresh and funny content that everyone can enjoy. It’s a new show – filmed on set and in studio – with a new star at the helm.”
Bandicoot MD Derek McLean and Creative Director Daniel Nettleton said: “With two new deliciously bonkers series of the nation’s favourite Saturday night show, and a brand-new, star-packed digital companion show direct from the studio, we’re expanding the Masked universe and deepening the experience for fans. We’re thrilled with ITV’s continued commitment to The Masked Singer and we can’t wait for the social sleuthing to start.”
Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment & Daytime Commissioning, ITV said: “The Masked Singer is one of the nation’s best loved entertainment shows and we are delighted that viewers will get to enjoy a further two series. We’ve seen some of music and TV’s biggest names masquerading in giant colourful, crazy costumes and the next two series promise to be even bigger.”
