Mindhouse, co-founded by Louis Theroux, is launching an audio division and looking to appoint a new role to oversee the new podcast department.
The announcement comes as Mindhouse releases the first episode of the new Spotify Original podcast series, The Louis Theroux Podcast, and follows the success of its recent podcast series Rylan: How To Be A Man as well as Grounded with Louis Theroux for BBC Sounds and BBC Radio 4 – winner of a British Podcast Award in 2021.
Mindhouse will expand its podcast operations through both talent-led podcasts and narrative documentary podcasts, of which there are “several” currently in development.
The company is currently in the process of searching for a senior appointment to head-up the new division.
Arron Fellows, Co-Founder & Creative Director at Mindhouse, said: “We’re enormous fans of podcasts at Mindhouse and having had success with the ones we have made, our intention is to make even more and to establish a new department to run alongside our television productions. Whether it’s working with the best talent or telling gripping real-life stories, we feel that this will be a natural extension of what we do already. Podcasts offer something a little different to television given their intimacy and variety and we’re excited to dive into the audio space. But we also see an opportunity to build on our talent relationships and to potentially test-drive ideas for TV”
Current Mindhouse television projects airing include BBC Two’s Gods of Tennis, which launched on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer on Sunday 4th June.
