Sony Pictures Television has acquired global distribution rights to new format ‘100 Choices’ from FANY Studio, and will be launching the format at London Screenings 2025, as part of the studio’s showcase.

In the comedy family format, a group of contestants are faced with 1 question but 100 possible answers. If they can answer correctly, they’ll win a large cash prize. The question will be nearly impossible to answer, so the contestants will take on five physical challenges that will allow them to eliminate some of the 100 potential choices based on their performance in each challenge.

This format comes from FANY Studio, a production house based in Tokyo, and was picked up by SPT after it was showcased at ATF in 2023. The pilot episode of 100 Choices aired on BS Yoshimoto in October 2023. As well as distributing the format internationally, in countries where SPT has a non-fiction production company, the format will be repped by: Stellify (UK), B17 Entertainment (USA), Curio (Australia), Teleset (Mexico) and Floresta (Brazil).

Laura St. Clair, SVP, International Formats, Sony Pictures Television, says: “100 Choices is a unique new take on family entertainment and comedy gameshow genres. We love the strength of the central format premise, which makes it suitable to adapt for both weekend studio prime time and location shoots. We’re excited to work with the team at FANYStudio to bring this fantastic format to our buyers around the world – and we can’t wait to unveil it at London Screenings later this month!”

Mari Kawamura, Head of Global Business, FANY Studio, says “The 100 choices format idea was originally the first episode in the World HOMERUN Factory series airing on BS Yoshimoto. The series put together the brains of comedians and producers to create global formats. I am deeply impressed by how this format embodies the very essence of the HOMERUN Factory mission, through its adaptability and international relevance. 100 Choices strives to take flight in the global market now. With the support of SPT, I sincerely hope this format will become one that is loved around the world.”
